La película “Vivir al límite” se consagró en Londres como la gran ganadora en los premios cinematográficos BAFTA, considerados como los Oscar británicos, al superar a la superproducción en 3-D “Avatar” como mejor filme y por mejor director entre las seis estatuillas que recogió. Ambas películas, dirigidas por Kathryn Bigelow y su ex esposo James Cameron respectivamente, estaban nominadas a ocho premios BAFTA y además lideran en cantidad de premios, con nueve nominaciones, la entrega el próximo mes de los Oscar, según consignó la agencia intenacional Ansa.
Bigelow obtuvo el primer BAFTA en la categoría al mejor director.
“La lucha de las mujeres por la equidad es una lucha constante, por lo que si esto puede ser un faro de luz, entonces maravilloso”, dijo Bigelow tras recibir su premio en una ceremonia de gala en el Royal Opera House de Londres.
En tanto, Cameron ganó dos premios con “Avatar”, al mejor diseño de producción y efectos visuales especiales.
Otros ganadores anoche fueron Colin Firth (“Un hombre soltero”) y Carey Mulligan (“Enseñanza de Vida”), que lograron un doble triunfo británico en las principales categorías de actuación.
El premio a mejor actriz de reparto fue para Mo’Nique por la producción estadounidense “Precious”, en tanto que Christoph Waltz ganó como mejor actor de reparto por su interpretación de nazi en “Malditos bastardos” de Quentin Tarantino.
Entre los asistentes a la entrega de premios estuvieron Quentin Tarantino, Kate Winslet, los co-protagonistas de “Crepúsculo” Kristen Stewart y Robert Pattinson, y el príncipe William, segundo en la línea de sucesión al trono británico.
Stewart ganó el premio Orange a la Estrella Emergente, mientras que la cinta de suspenso de prisión “Un profeta” se quedó con la estatuilla por la categoría de película extranjera, donde competía “Los abrazos rotos” de Almodóvar.
El príncipe William fue nombrado como el nuevo presidente de BAFTA, tomando el relevo del director británico Richard Attenborough.
Durante la ceremonia fue homenajeada por su trayectoria de seis décadas y legado la veterana actriz británica Vanessa Redgrave, en un premio que recibieron en el pasado estrellas como Charlie Chaplin, Alfred Hitchcock, Steven Spielberg, Sean Connery, Elizabeth Taylor y Julie Christie.
