–Tremenda. Pusimos las manos en la piedra del Santo Sepulcro y lloramos como chicos, sin parar…
–¿Por qué? ¿Qué les pasó?
–Nos atravesó una verdad: el sentimiento de estar juntos y celebrar la palabra de Cristo.
–¿Tan profundamente?
–Sí, pero sin el cliché tipo “descubrí a Cristo y renací”. Como una celebración de amor…
–¿En qué sentido?
–Muy puro. Más allá de la lógica, de la fría razón. Simplemente para celebrar ese instante único, de gloria, de felicidad absoluta.
–El viaje, para vos, ¿también fue un reencuentro con tus raíces?
–Totalmente. Estuve cerca de mi sangre, porque mi abuelo era de Damasco. Pero lamentablemente no pude llegar a su cuna, porque si estuviste en Israel no podés entrar a Siria. Una cuestión política… y una gran pena.
–¿Nunca se separaron?
–De día, no. Pero de noche, mientras Emilia revisaba mails y entraba al facebook, yo me iba a nadar al mar, al Mediterráneo, frente al hotel. El agua estaba caliente, maravillosa.
–¿Mucho facebook?
–Le gusta bastante. Tiene ciento cuarenta que no son de ella…, y uno propio, pero con nombre de fantasía.
–¿Qué les pasó en los lugares sagrados?
–Nos pegaron mucho emocionalmente. A ella, el Muro de los Lamentos, porque tiene raíces judías, y yo me quebré ante el Santo Sepulcro. Estaba algo reacio por esos lugares del cristianismo tan publicitados, pero la experiencia me mató. Todo Jerusalén es muy fuerte. Te pasa de todo: repasas tu propia historia, la educación cristiana que te dieron tus padres… Tanta energía te pone la piel de gallina.
–¿Les pegó tanto por ser la primera vez?
–No. Fue porque los dos somos muy creyentes, muy cristianos.
–¿Dónde nació tu fe?
–En mi casa, con mi vieja, que es muy católica. Y yo, como buen tano, también.
–¿Tenés nacionalidad italiana?
–Sí.
–¿Y Emilia?
–Todavía no, pero cuando nos casemos la tendrá. Será toda una tana…
–¿Cuándo se casan?
–En diciembre.
–¿Por Iglesia?
–(Se ríe) Ese dato lo guardábamos en secreto, no queríamos revelarlo… Pero sí: será por Iglesia.
–¿Por qué?
–Porque creemos en Dios, creemos en los sacramentos y queremos la bendición de la Iglesia.
–¿Emilia también por la misma razón?
–Ella es muy especial.
–¿En qué sentido?
–No lo hace para casarse de blanco, sino porque es muy espiritual.
–¿Ese sentimiento se hizo más profundo en Israel?
–Sí… Pensás en todos los que durante miles de años pasaron por allí… Este viaje nos llenó de fuerza, de fe y de amor. A mí particularmente, de ganas de iluminarme, de dominar el ego.
–¿Te pasó por primera vez?
–No, me pasa desde que conocí a Emilia.
–¿Por qué?
–Porque me criticaron tanto desde que estamos juntos, que ese rechazo me fortaleció. Odié esa crítica, porque tenía el ego muy alto, pero ya no…
–¿Cómo maneja Emilia su ego?
–Mirá: yo era un pelotudo que me creía que era Dios, pero ella nació con humildad natural. No se la cree…
–¿Estás seguro?
–¡Y cómo! En Israel alquilaron todas las habitaciones de alrededor, de abajo y de arriba, y toda la noche gritaban: ¡Amilia, Amilia! Pero ella, nada. Le encanta, lo entiende, pero no se vuelve loca. Es un rasgo de su inteligencia. Todos somos iguales, y si no te das cuenta de eso, sos un tarado total.
